Title: Innovative Assessment Demonstration Authority
Abstract:

Under the Innovative Assessment Demonstration Authority, States may pilot innovative assessments as an alternative to a State’s current summative assessments and the use of assessments for accountability purposes before scaling statewide. The Department plans to issue regulations to support States in developing higher-quality assessment systems that can be better used to assess student learning and inform instruction in ways that improve teaching and learning.  These regulations will be informed by the forthcoming report by the Institute of Education Sciences.
