Title: 49 CFR Part 573, Defect and Noncompliance Responsibility and Reports | |
Abstract:
This rulemaking would update 49 CFR part 573 in compliance with the FAST Act to require manufacturers to provide the name and description of the components, and the part or component number of the components involved in a defect or noncompliance on the defect or noncompliance information reports filed with the agency. The rulemaking would also make other conforming amendments to update the regulations to reflect amendments to the Motor Vehicle Safety Act in the FAST Act, as well as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. In addition, NHTSA is considering changes to enhance the information reported regarding the safety risk, the administration of recalls, and the public availability of a vehicle’s recall status on the Internet. |
