This rulemaking would propose to amend NHTSA's regulations establishing fees authorized by 49 U.S.C. section 30141 for the purpose of reimbursing the government for certain costs incurred in administering the vehicle importation program. The amendments would adjust the fees to the level necessary for the government to recover the agency's actual costs. The agency is required under 49 U.S.C. section 30141(e) to review and adjust as necessary these fees at least every two years. The fees were last adjusted in September 2014.
