The Department will amend the regulations concerning the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Program to align with changes made to the Higher Education Act of 1965 by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (Pub. L. 110-315) and to revise other sections to be more consistent with the program’s legal parameters. The revised regulations will update the areas of national need to reflect economic and technological changes since the last revision.
