This rule describes application and adjudication procedures for the Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records (AFBCMR) and Air Force Discharge Review Board (AFDRB). AFBCMR is the highest level of administrative appeal and acts on behalf of the Secretary to correct military records when applicant is the victim of an error or injustice. The AFDRB adjudicates requests from Veterans to upgrade the character of their discharge when discharge is less than 15 years old (older discharges are considered by the AFBCMR). This part will be combined with 32 CFR part 70 to create a single DoD-level rule for Discharge Review Boards and Boards for Correction of Military Records. The cost savings associated with this part are consolidated under 32 CFR part 70.
